Joe, you want a definition of evolution?
Here's a starter: Advancement in order and complexity of the structure of matter, from lifeless, simple atomic and molecular components, through gradual progression, to components necessary for life and, through more gradual progression, to living organisms of greater and greater complexity and intelligence. All this done without the intervention of any outside intelligence. (In other words, it all comes together by random chance.)
If you don't like that definition, that's ok, because I just made it up, from my understanding of what evolutionists believe.
(Sure, you believe Sagan is OK - he believes like you do, that we evolved instead of being created.)
