THE BUZZ AT THE BELL
This week's case of nerves finally turned into action
today when the Employment Cost Index and fourth quarter
GDP both came in higher than expected. They weren't much
higher, but they triggered selling in stocks, a move into
bonds and new fears that the economy is growing too fast.
And now, added to the near certainty that the Fed will
raise rates next week, there are rumors that there will
be a second increase in the spring. Interest rate
sensitive stocks, like J.P. Morgan and GE, were hit hard
