<What difference does it make> *OT* Ah....but the answer to your question is already included in the debate I think, but I'll venture some ( extended logic?)

It obviously matters to someone, for the myth is kept alive....why would one keep alive the myth (if it didn't matter)..?

As much as some would argue Bin Laden as a martyr is an "aid" to the cause, it is more important (not hugely so, but more important) for him to be alive....to prove that he has stood up/beat the U.S. (let's face it, if he is alive, that is considered a victory by our enemies and sympathisizers).

(Anti-U.S. Arab) Inferior complex plays a role in this, and Bin Laden getting wiped out quickly/easily would be a blow to the burgeoning terror ego....even by delaying the existence of his death (by a year or two), I think his inner circle think they "lessen" the blow of his death to his supporters.

This is all speculation on my part...I have little facts to support, but it makes sense to me.
