I don't think Clinton is actually a centrist - actually, I don't think he really has ANY concrete position. If extreme left (or right) was what the American populace appeared to want, based on the polls, that's where Clinton would be. If public opinion suddenly shifts on an issue (such as abortion or welfare), Clinton will also shift. His bases of support don't seem to realize this, even though he has voted against them when it was convenient. I actually see this as a positive, not a negative. It is a good balance to whatever extreme positions may be taken by either party in Congress. At least SOMEBODY is listening to the American people. I still don't like Clinton, of course.
