Hi all; DDoDDRN: OCworkbench reports SiS to launch two DDR chipsets, one this quarter, and an integrated solution next:

SiS to launch independent DDR chipset this quarter / Azriel 10:25pm, Oct 3, 2000

SiS has been targetting the integrated chipset solution. This will change in the 4th quarter as they will release an independent DDR chipset. They will release integrated DDR chipset in 1st Quarter next year. Hopefully this might increase their market share.

According to their naming convention, in 4th quarter, the codename of the independent DDR chipset will be 635 or 735, for Intel and AMD platform respectively. It will pair up another chipset for I/O. It is expected that the DDR independent chipset will also support a DDR based graphics chipset. SiS is not going to forgo the integrated chipset market, it will launch the 640 and 740 integrated chipset.

P.S. Those words regarding RDRAM IP value are not my own, but I don't disagree with it. There are a lot of things that are of no practical worth but a lot of financial worth, Rambus IP may end up being one of them.
