I can understand the right to life argument re: a fetus. I cannot buy into the fertilized egg outside of the womb as an independent life however. That egg will by definition be dumped once the infertile couple that produced it has their family. How is sending the egg to the dump better than using it for stem cell research? That essentially is the orin hatch position and i am comfortable with it. I think the repubs should bite that bullet as "some" dems did with partial birth abortion. Maybe the exception in both cases for each constituency shouldnt become a litmus test but just dealt with as an exception that proves the rule. mike
