Here are my thoughts on the new Netstream 2tv product: while this added feature enhances the capabilities of the product I am not really sure if this new feature is too big of a deal. When I read this press release it mentions that there are 2 different output modes to TV: 1) VGA signal ---> TV signal 2) streaming MPEG data ---> TV signal. Maybe when they use that VGA to TV chip they get a much better quality video on the TV than in case 2 (that would be my guess). I might even have a guess who supplies this chip to them: there is a company call Focus Enhancements and they got this FS300 vga to tv scan converter chip which is considered to give just an unbelievable quality on TV sets, but this is just my guess. Also, didn't they already have Tv out option for netstream 2 in the specs on their website (I could be wrong)? The negative of course is that would increase the cost of the card for them?

What I would like to see is for them to have like a single chip solution for Netstream 2 card. This way they can sell it cheaper and they can OEM the chip to the network adapter manufacturers. My guess is that they are probably already working on something like that, because of the article which appeared on techweb/cmpnet a couple of weeks ago which talked about them looking for a partner who makes network adapters. So it would make sense for them to have a chip that could be placed directly on the network adapter card or used as a single chip solution on the Netstream 2 card. Now something like that would be a big deal!
