Despite NextWave Telecom Inc.'s declaration in a U.S. bankruptcy court Thursday that its settlement with the FCC was a done deal, FCC officials still refuse to comment on the arrangement. The long-awaited official announcement would free up spectrum re-sold in an auction early this year to carriers including Verizon Wireless, VoiceStream Wireless, Salmon PCS and others.

NextWave attorney Deborah Schrier-Rape told Judge Adlai Hardin that the 'U.S. government, NextWave, and numerous wireless service providers have reached an agreement designed to resolve pending litigation,' a statement said. She added that she expected all parties to sign the agreement by the end of today, and that NextWave will submit a copy of the agreement in a court hearing scheduled on Dec. 28. <<
