hey rich,

per #reply-11172658, i decided to try to extract the original kernel32.dll from my win95 cd and copy it to c:windows/system, then reboot. even if it doesn't fix things, i want to become more familiar with the extraction process.

well i'm already having probs. when i restart pc in command prompt only mode per instructions (given on link on above referenced post) and attempt to copy the extract.exe file from cd-rom to c:drive, i encounter an 'invalid drive specification' error. the command i'm using, again per instructions, is:

copy e:\extract.exe c:\

where e: is the drive that contains the win95 cd-rom and c: is my hard disk. i'm leaving a space in front of each drive letter. i just don't know why i'm not getting past this point.

can you take a look and see if you recognize what i'm doing wrong. gotta be something to do with not recognizing the cd-rom drive...

:)
