To be honest, I never personally saw that as a real benefit, but I do see job security as a general value and a swaying factor for new teachers to join the Teacher Associations. "Guaranteed job for life as long as you don't rape or beat students."

My remarks weren't an assault on teachers, generally -- rather, more of an assault on unions. It is becoming more and more difficult to find examples where unions serve any public policy interest at all.
