SunRocket Names Rob Chandhok as Chief Product Officer
Former QUALCOMM new businesses visionary will launch Internet phone service company's first West Coast office

VIENNA, Va., Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- SunRocket, one of the nation's fastest-growing Internet phone service providers, announced today that Rob Chandhok has joined the company as Chief Product Officer (CPO).

As CPO at SunRocket, Chandhok will drive product innovation and differentiation that enhances the consumer experience and seamlessly extends the broadband lifestyle beyond the home. In addition Chandhok, formerly QUALCOMM's vice president of engineering and market development, will head up SunRocket's first West Coast office in San Diego, CA.

"Since its inception, two SunRocket goals have stood above all others: provide consumers with the features and products that they are most likely to use; and make it as simple as possible for consumers to enjoy them," said Lisa Hook, president and CEO of SunRocket. "Rob's distinguished track record for leveraging innovations occurring at the device, platform and content level - with a clear eye for the consumer experience - and his ability to anticipate market shifts driven by emerging consumer behaviors will allow SunRocket to create an increasingly rewarding user experience for our growing subscriber base."

After joining QUALCOMM in 2000, Chandhok spearheaded the strategic development for some of the company's most significant projects. As vice president of engineering and market development, he was responsible for the technical architecture and development of the MediaFLO System, while also managing marketing and international business development for MediaFLO. Earlier in his tenure, Chandhok was director of engineering in QUALCOMM's Eudora Products group, responsible for supporting strategic development for a variety of Eudora products. He also served as vice president of technology for QChat, a push-to-talk VoIP technology for 3G CDMA networks.

"While some Internet phone service providers have gained traction among consumers by offering cheaper voice, it is clear that the future of VoIP-based communications lies with companies that deliver a user experience that is meaningful in the context of the evolving consumer broadband lifestyle," says Chandhok. "SunRocket will continue to lead the market by providing a robust VoIP-based service delivery platform and partnering with consumer electronics companies, device manufacturers, and others to offer consumers a far richer array of communications services than are currently imagined."

Before joining QUALCOMM, Chandhok was president of Within Technology for seven years after founding the company in 1993. He also worked for more than 10 years as a research computer scientist at the Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science in Pittsburgh.
