In the fight w/ NOK and BRCM the speed with which QCOM executes and brings out new products cutting costs and increasing function may well be decisive. A long legal battle works to the benefit of the company that develops and markets the most compelling chips and phones. Chips made by IBM.Samsung/?? and phones made by Samsung et al on the high end and certain Chinese and Taiwan makers on the low end could present a timely value proposition to the marketplace.
If these ASICS evolve rapidly, MOT may want to concider QCOM ASICS for WCDMA/HSPDA phones in order to keep Cingular happy. Sony-ERICY may well keep up, but I doubt that NOK will be able to rush up WCDMA/HSPDA/HSUPD ASICS and phones. At some point NOK will likely fracture -- into an icy puddle of broken pride and bleeding green -- unless the Euronut Commission can move invisibly to grease the road for NOK and baracade it for QCOM.
