To anyone,

I'm looking for educated opinions on STAC, and there is obviously a lot of computer brainpower here. I know the company well, having followed them for 3 years.

Known:

1.Compression technology may be passe.

2.Company has $2.50 share cash, zero ($0) debt. Books are clean, writing everything off.

3.Still collecting $1 million/month from MSFT for being naughty and getting caught. Goes about a year yet as does $1 mill./qtr from IBM.

4.Ignoring that, they are about breakeven after taxes.

5.Have purchased new technology in the remote computing area, among other things, on which they are betting the company.

6.Insider selling early this year on the way up to $15 has stopped.

I took a position a week ago, because support around $6 looked solid. The stock obliged this week with a nice run as high as 7 3/4 on big volume. Only got in for the year end tax loss selling bounce, and reasons as above. But there is no resistance up to the $9-10 area, and if the technology is solid maybe I should consider a longer stay.

Any input would be appreciated, but we should do it on the STAC thread so as to not muck this up!

Thanks, Dwight
