Intel, Software, & Morgan Stanley

Spent some time searching around Vanguard's Index Mutual Funds. Although they model Morgan Stanley on some of their international funds, they do not appear to model the Morgan Stanley High TEch Index. Vanguard Index 500 doesn't show NOVL as among its top holdings and Edgar shows about 1.5 million shares of Novl as of the first quarter in this fund. However these statistics are out of date and thus highly unreliable.

Frankly other than a large holder of the stock like Vanguard I don't give a damn what the morons at Morgan Stanley do since they do not appear even as a blip on the stockholder radar screen.

As to Intel and software. I think Intel is interested in software interface standards rather than betting on a NOS. For example it hurts them when they design a motherboard with a sound card chip which conflicts with someones graphics card in the area of the software device drivers. I know for example that their Atlantis MB with a Crystal 4232 chip cannot operate with a Diamond Trio 64+ video card without crashing Win95. Its this type of software conflict they are interested in resolving through software standards.

An Intel acquisition of NOVL is a long shot. I wouldn't put my hopes on it but on the other hand I wouldn't mind getting a Christmas present of a hundred grand or so either.
