Why not scale back Social Security to what it was intended to be in the first place: an extremely modest old age pension to help prevent starvation among the elderly? As for Federal deficits the conservatives under Reagan evolved an extremely clever way to put a lid on entitlement spending. Read David Stockman, he was implementing the budgetary policy that created the deficits and never figured out why till after he was out of government. Slagle
