<<As for educating all children it is utopia...We can't teach them how to read, never mind guns>>

The *State* cant educate children ;). But I wasnt suggesting the State do the educating. It is the parents' responsibility to do so. Im originally from rural Pennsylvania where nearly every young male is taught how to use a gun and gun safety by their father and grandfathers.

My father kept his guns out of reach on a rack, but I could have easily gotten hold of one. I never tried. The best way to keep kids from playing with guns is to teach them they are not toys at a very young age, explain that they are dangerous weapons not to be touched. When kids are old enough, teach them how to properly use one and properly handle one and stress that they are not to be taken lightly.

If your child is obviously not mature enough to deal with guns, they should not be accessible. If your child displays disturbing psychological traits that you would identify as disturbed behavior in anyone else, get them help, dont ignore it and deny it.

...IMHO
