<After watching biotech for 6 months> Biotech is the original dotcom scam for the most part. Occassionally a good investment does emerge. Occassionally a real company does emerge. When dotcom was in, biotech was out. Biotech came back into favor right as dotcom busted. Biotech is the original "loss leader" entity of off balance sheet financing. Don't want to ruin a Genzyme or Amgen for example? Fine. Go set up a new company, provide it some funding, let it fend for itself, let it accumulate losses away from the "Main" company, fund it as necessary to keep an sufficient economic interest. Enron Lite.
