RS-- I think you've got 3rd and worst mixed up. The worst scenario for G* seems to be happening--Irid will limp along, not driven out of business, but available to price their calls without regard to recouping sunk costs or funding a second generation. That puts a damper on what price G* can charge.

The second problem that irid's continued existence presents is in handsets. It would be best if demand in the first months swamped supply, enticing the handset makers to ramp up faster than their contract with G* demands. And the 10,000 or 20,000 that IRID might be signing up monthly over the summer might instead become unfilled handset demand in the important first months.

It certainly would have been better if irid had validated the market.
