Jerome,
I wont be drawn into that argument. Suffice it to say the killing of an hamas terrorist has no moral equivalence to the killing of children in pizzarias before or after the terrorists death. I think that you would agree with that.
Killing bin laden by the US would be a good thing for the US. I do not believe that the killing of arafat would do any good at all. What is needed in the region is a dose of reality. The facts are that terror precludes the achievement of palestinian goal more than any other force. The Israelis would be happy to get out of the west bank and gaza for good, save a few settlement areas(which were replaced inch by inch with ceded land in the 2000 proposal). The Palestinians want a state in those areas. Nobody objects. Only the terrorists stand in the way. Arafat chose terror over agreement in 2000 because he lacked vision and courage. Now he is reaping what he sowed. This may be his real last chance. I dont know what happens after him. But certainly the israelis wont allow hamas and hezbollah to control their fate. mike
