Hi Eric, it sounds like you are lucky. Competition has been stifled in most areas of the country. Where I am, I can only get one form of broadband: cable. I pay $49.95 for one IP and $9.95 for the second IP. I'm not complaining about the service, but it goes to show you that in many areas of the country Cable dominates and in other areas the Bells dominate. This is an industry that is getting stifled by crappy regulation and dotcom era busts. It's very unfortunate, because this stiflement (is that a word?) is going to delay the new investment cycle and any real sustained upturn. If the government wants to subsidize, I can think of very few better places to place their dollars than in opening up the floodgates of broadband to communities everywhere in the U.S. Come to think of it, another good place for subsidies might be in electric cars or alternative fuel for cars, since the market is failing in this area. Side topic. Anyway, cross your fingers. Here's to Technet!
