Milo: working for a Large HSD provider, I disagree with you, we don't care so much about the nominal bandwidth used on a circuit. We do look for people that are hosting a ftp site, but that's they the upsteam limit is in place to deter that use but what's ironic is we never come anywhere near 50% circuit use on the upsteam ever. I personally think 128k is pretty slow on the upsite.

We look at Max peaks of data during peak hours and that is the only concern any major ISP concerns themselves with.

Oh, I'm not saying that the ISP has a problem. When using the program, you're basically siphoning bandwidth from the other users in your area.

Almost all Cable Modems are limited on a per Modem basis. @home for example limits downstream to 10Mbps and upstream to 128kbps. Said users are entitled to this bandwidth as it's what they pay for.

All the tests I've ever seen of cable and xDSL operators show that not one of them is able to provide enough bandwidth during peak times.
