yes, it is the software they use to design chips... as far as I know snps, cadence and magma (LAVA) are the big three, this is the workstation market which has been lucrative for Sun. BTW I think another workstation market might be developing for Linux OLAP analytical data processing, for supply chain analysts. So there is a need for workstations in business, not just design houses.
