Win95 Reskit ...

The last time I was to a bookstore, Win95 Resource Kits were on sale dirt cheap. Seems people want Win98 Resource Kits these days.

Anyway, the Reskits on the Win98 CDs are Reskit SAMPLES, and not the full package. Even then, the sample still contains some nice stuff. I only brought it up because many people have Win98 CDs, and hence, the Reskit sampler on it. Even though it's already in their possession, for many, it's undiscovered.

I did purchase the Win98 Resource Kit. After evaluating the printed material (book) I felt the focus of the information was not in line with my needs and I returned the kit with the CD envelope unopened for a refund. The material seemed aimed toward system administrators implementing Win98 across their entire organization. I'm simply trying to unleash the potential of my (one) laptop.

I don't know what other PC suppliers include with their systems, but I have a Dell, and it came with original CDs for Win98, Office97, and some software from Dell tailored for my hardware, (mostly device drivers) as well as a utility on my drive to restore the factory configuration if needed. I was able to restore my system from the CDs DELL provided. It took some time, but I found nothing missing.

Cheers, PW.
