MARKET TALK-HK: Parent May Inject CDMA Into Unicom
1009 [Dow Jones] China Unicom's (0762.HK) management hints parent may ultimately inject 2G CDMA networks into its listed arm but will only do so when there's definite customer demand in new networks, says Ming Pao; Unicom currently a GSM operator. BNP Paribas' Marvin Lo says too early to tell whether 2G CDMA assets will be beneficial to Unicom as it depends on timing and price of injection (that is, how much development costs Unicom must shoulder); says 3G CDMA, for which Unicom's parent will apply for license, would be much more exciting.(IVW)
