Our house seems to be well insulated. Double glazed windows and storm doors make a lot of difference. But we keep the thermostat on 68, which I find to be quite comfortable. When we replace the siding, which looks a little tatty, I will have more insulation put in, or at least Tyvek wrap. Today's New York Times has a photo of Rehnquist walking down his front stairs. I notice with some satisfaction that his siding looks tattier than mine does, but his is wood, and mine is vinyl. You need a subscription, but it's free. nytimes.com
