Multi-Media Productions: Anacomp, Inc. Appears on Caspar Weinberger's World Business Review TV Series

BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 2000--Multi-Media Productions is proud to announce the appearance of Ralph W. Koehrer, President and CEO, and Don Thurman, Executive Vice-President of Anacomp, Inc. (Nasdaq:ANCO), on World Business Review.

The weekly television series focuses on business and technology, and is hosted by Caspar Weinberger, chairman of Forbes magazine and Secretary of Defense during the Reagan administration. The topic of the segment is Web Based Information Services on episode No. 630-B, which is slated to air on CNBC as paid programming, Sunday, January 9, at 3 p.m.

"Anacomp was selected to appear on the show because they have successfully made the difficult technological and economic transition from paper to the web and other digital media, and they are now helping other companies make the same transition," said J.L. Haber, Esquire, the show's coordinating producer.

As Internet usage proliferates, more and more companies are finding the web to be an effective medium for making business documents available to their personnel and customers. However, because of the sophistication and rapid advancement of this technology, few companies today are able to implement and operate an effective in-house system for storing large volumes of documents and delivering them to users over the web. Anacomp is helping companies meet this challenge through an outsource service that stores their clients' documents in Anacomp's "e-warehouse" and delivers them securely to users via the Internet or the clients' private network.

Koehrer and Thurman appear on World Business Review to discuss how their firm is addressing the shift from paper to the web, and the accompanying shift from in-house operations to outsource services. Koehrer underscores the value his firm provides for companies in document-intensive businesses. "Our Internet Document Services(SM) are helping our clients' personnel and customers access documents faster than ever. And thanks to our experience and economies of scale, our services give our clients better performance and value than they could achieve on their own with an internal system. With these services, our clients are working more effectively, cutting costs, and providing better service for their customers," he stated.

Anacomp is currently expanding its web-based services in both function and scale. As Koehrer explains, "We're investing heavily in research and development to incorporate new technology into our services and develop applications tailored to financial services and other document-intensive business sectors. We're also expanding our infrastructure to handle even larger volumes of documents." Security is another key concern. "Our clients trust us with their most critical business documents," explains Thurman. "To honor that trust, we provide extensive security measures for both storage and delivery."

Anacomp is growing along with the Internet. The company currently serves about 10,000 customers in 65 countries, imaging two billion original pages of customer-generated documents each month in its network of document service centers. Koehrer points out that even the very largest companies are outsourcing to Anacomp because they do not have sufficient expertise in this area. "Typical information systems departments specialize in transaction processing, not document management," says Koehrer. "Technology and business conditions are changing faster than ever, and it's just not cost-effective for most companies to maintain the expertise and resources to keep up on their own. Outsourcing is simply a more practical solution," he adds.

Looking to the future, Thurman believes Anacomp will continue to focus on its three key sectors of banking, brokerage and insurance. "These sectors make up 60% of our business. We expect our business to continue to grow as we develop new services for these sectors and as more companies come to understand the competitive advantages of web-based document management," says Thurman.

Taped in Washington, D.C., World Business Review currently airs on PBS The Business Channel, CNBC as paid programming, and in prime business slots in numerous Public Television markets, including San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and Miami. The weekly series can also be viewed on TWA, United Airlines, or from any desktop computer via AENTV.
