Mark / Supply & Demand

It's the ole supply vs demand situation. There is a glut of oil in inventory and it is still building. Leading contributing factors are cutback in Asian requirements, Iraq oversupply and mild temperatures over past six months as a result of El Nino.

As a person new to the industry and thus with little or no investment in the sector, let me note to you that your timing to learn more of the industry and investing into it couldn't be at a better time. Oil prices will recover - it's a matter of time. Share prices are in the dumpster and it could even get worse until OPEC decides to provide further cutbacks in supply of oil. My investment strategy for investment into oil producing companies over the near term is quite simple. When the price of oil remains at $17.00 or higher for a 20 day consecutive period, I will jump into the oils in a big way. I expect this to happen mid to late 3rd quarter. I might note that natural gas pricing will also begin to improve by the end of the 3rd quarter.

Until we reach this timing as outlined above, do some research on the industry and specific companies within it. Bottom line is this - the longer term outlook for the industry is very bullish. As the sector turns around, one stands to gain a superior profit in investment.

I cover the Canadian oil and gas industry. If you desire to learn more related to oil and gas, pay us a visit at the CANADIAN OIL AND GAS COMPANIES subject location. There's a wealth of information there. exchange2000.com
