You will not be surprised to find that I think the racism is on the part of the Dems. After all, they tend a base of 90% of the Black vote!

Well, we've certainly had this debate before, haven't we. I didn't accuse the Reps of racism for pursuing the strategy but they are certainly targeting racist voters. Perhaps a distinction without a difference. Who knows. As for the Dems, their targeting of the black vote strikes me as straightforward interest group politics without the odiousness of running after racist votes. (How's that for straightforward.)

The Reps need to keep chipping away at this new rising middle class Black vote that is getting bigger and bigger. They are a natural group for them, and only a few percentages of them could make a big difference.

My read is that they've given up on it. Save for a little bit of tweaking here and there. Their big run at an ethnic based middle class looks to me to be at the Hispanics. That's why whatshisname, the former California governer, Pete . . . .'s immigration policies were such a disaster for them.

In my part of the world, New Jersey, the Reps have a chunk of the Cuban vote, no surprise there. But not yet much else.
