Michelle -
I was supportive last year because CPQ was working on a very difficult transition (the enterprise capability) while working a rear-guard action in the PC space. I thought they were entitled to at least 6-9 months of turmoil assuming there was light at the end of the tunnel. I still think the enterprise stuff is on target.

But the last few months have really pushed my tolerance to the limit. like others on this thread I relied on statements from IR that "historically, CPQ has never warned this late" and public pronouncements from EP and others that things were more or less on track. I think earnings could have been a little soft if the trend was good and the business growth was in the right places. I would be very tolerant of soft PC demand since I think CPQ will be much more intent on the high end.

But the shortfall is so severe that there can be no doubt that EP and EM knew it was coming. They failed to provide adequate guidance to their investors and the analyst community, or even to their own IR.

In my mind, this is a real question of trust and credibility.
