I probably could have phrased my original post better. I have taken a few accounting courses, so I know how to read one and what to look for. However, I know I could be better and was looking for resources improve myself, and I received some great suggestions that I look forward to reading.

As far as pain in investing, I have no illusion that investing will be a cheery endeavor where I will continually select winners. I am just looking to equip myself with the tools to select stocks that offer a good margin of safety, while knowing I will get some wrong and some right. I know that regardless of outcome there will most often be some pain involved.

As far as your opinions, I am seeking, like you mentioned, advice from those with more experience. That's why I joined this site and this specific thread.

I look forward to reading your (and others) posts.
