Theory backed up by some knowledge, not stated as a fact:

There are no shorters. Various parties were paid in GIFS restricted shares to close the re-purchase of Congress Re-Insurance.

In order not to actually pay these people, Genesis accused them of being shorters instead.

So they are probably just as ripped off as the rest of us.

Shares are just paper. If you can't sell shares, they're worthless.
