Pierre, You're right. This is a classic case of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" scenario. These circumstances can be serendipitous for Corel. The installed user base of over 26 Million, plus the WordPerfect name recognition, plus Suite 8, and the specialty suites will be the key for Corel. I like the idea of IBM challenging MSFT's cash resources. Let 'em "duke it out," and in the meantime, Corel has a huge upgrade and specialty market to capitalize on. (Pun intended.) Microsoft used a sizable chunk of its cash with the Web TV purchase. Let 'em spend it. I personally doubt Web TV will provide the returns MSFT expects. So if IBM and MSFT go head to head, it can only benefit Corel. Corel could take advantage of this war by promoting itself as the "BUSINESS APPLICATIONS" company, and by convincing the public that Microsoft is an "OPERATING SYSTEM" company, and that IBM is a "HARDWARE" company. If the corporate decision makers could see these three firms in this light, Corel's revenues, and better yet, earnings, will steadily rise.
Good Observation.
Up, Up, and Away!
