Ted, > Most countries in Asia, Europe and South America are taxing the hell out of gas and building mass urban transit, fast trains and developing alternative sources of energy.

Almost all of those countries also have a lower standard of living. I personally have no problem with Tokyo-style living, but most Americans would. We like our open space.

Why does having a smart energy policy and good mass transit require Tokyo density? The short answer....it doesn't. LA has a growing mass transit system without Tokyo densities. Most European cities have good mass transit systems and have nowhere near the densities of a tokyo. Tokyo is so dense because buildable land is very scarce in mountainous Japan.

I know you don't live your life that way so why should the nation function in that manner?

You have no idea what my personal situation is

I find it hard to beleve you don't plan for the future....financially. If you don't, well then I overestimated you.
