"Nope, all you did was say, "But that wasn't the topic," or "Where did that come from?""
I did much more than that. Look, I know you and your buds think that changing the subject, obfuscating the issues, pulling out red herring and putting up straw men are clever ways to argue. Oh, I forgot the novel and unique definitions.
But y'all are far from the first to come up with those "ideas". And they are considered to be intellectually dishonest arguments. For a reason. Because they distract from the subject under discussion.
"That after a very long diatribe about the definition of splitting hairs."
I felt the definition was necessary. You seem to be under the impression that the origins of life and the origins of species are the same topic. They aren't. If you don't know the difference, then it is hard to move the argument further. Now it could have been you didn't really understand what the term "splitting hairs" means. So I was careful to define terms.
"It's really easy to demonstrate why your original question is nonsensical"
Then do so.
"Just apply it to your own existence."
That isn't an answer. Unless, of course, your answer is "I know it when I see it". And that is just a cop-out. That way you can claim you were right because no matter what they do in the lab, you can claim that isn't life because it was done in the lab.
In other words, tail chasing. I suppose that sort of thing amuses you...
"I'd be quite surprised if you didn't consider yourself to be anything more than a virus."
And there you go with your straw men again. Apparently that amuses you also.
I dunno why I bother. You seem to be afraid to argue based on logic and facts, and always dive for distortions and lies. When you aren't just making broad statements you refuse to back up with anything but hand waving.
I suppose that is ok, but then you turn around and accuse me of engaging of the very behavior you are flaunting. I guess you think this is clever, also. Hiding behind you making the accusation first means that no one can point out you have done just that. |
