Why not? It would be much more palatable if Egypt were given a Mandate over Libya - and Gaza - than if, say, Britain were the Mandate power. No worries about the evil white colonial power taking over again.
I think that is a great idea. Inter alia, it has the advantage of NOT "appointing" a Shia power to "stabilize" Sunnis, or other such popular but ignorant insanity.

In general, IF humans have learned anything in the past 400 years, and I hope they have, we OUGHT to be able to go directly to a new Westphalian Conference, while avoiding going through another 30 year global war.

There are NO real irreconcilable problems between major powers and other developed countries.

Russia walked away from their messianic Communist quasi-religion. IMO, their "business model" is rather along the lines of Saudi Arabia - have Oil enrich the elites, but also share the wealth with the population.

China is managed by an oligarchy which is CINO - communist in name only. Mainly, they want to build, make things - and to do business.

The only major irreconcilable issues in the world today are between the Sunni and Shia, and between the radical Muslims and the rest of the world.

If some relatively limited problems like East China Sea - and Ukraine - could be solved, an incredible block MAY develop, which would include the US, Canada, the EU, Russia, China, India, Japan - to mention just the few larger players.

If that would happen, many other things would fall into place.
