Most in the industry predict that during the next several years NT will overtake Unix as the preferred telephony platform. No one really cares about Novell as a telephony platform anymore. Just another squandered opportunity by the visionary wonderkids at Novell. You are right that convergence is a tremendous opportunity...as far as the OS, it is an opportunity for Microsoft, and another lost opportunity for Novell. Game over!
