When I had the vegetation inventory project in Southeast Alaska, we used a mini-aircraft carrier to house our crew and fly them out in the field every day. This meant that we could do in one day what it would have taken at least one week to do and would have been very dangerous. The crew lived in bunks, which were like slots in a closet big enough to stand up next to the bed, but you had to get out to turn over in bed. Space was tight, and if we couldn't give men and women separate staterooms the setup was co-ed. Bottom line: The ship provided and cooked all meals. The cook placed an order with a company that aggregated everything ordered at Costco and got it to us very efficiently. I don't know what we would have done without Costco.
