nbfm: Thanks for the press release on Advance Communication Technologies. While this company is small and is currently listed on the bulletin board, the idea which it represents of "software radio" is a compelling one. This idea has been around for years and both IBM and Tellabs tried to bring it from the lab to commercial operation - but both gave up (at the time, at least). Perhaps this is an idea whose time has come, or is about to come. While this particular company may not succeed in the marketplace, the idea will probably be implemented at some time in the future. Note: The claim is careful - it is that the Q's chips repeat chips are avoided in the base station. There is silence on the applicability of the Q's patents re: the basestations themselves, and zero mention of the handsets or other "terminals" where the money is for the Q for IPR and will be for Spinco for chips.
