sounds like a good plan. i've had ubuntu on all my computers for over 3 years with no problems. i can't speak for redhat or any other form of linux, but ubuntu does just about everything windoze does. it's easy to install along side windows too. just put the ubuntu disk in the optical drive and follow the simple instructions. i usually give ubuntu a little more than half the hard drive since i seldom use windoze anymore. another nice thing about ubuntu is you can leave it on for weeks and it won't slow down your computer. as you know, you can't get away with doing that with windoze.
