Buck, that December 15 date did not appear to be related to our contract hopes for naturalization or border control purposes. It seemed to be something else. The INS has bought itself a little (but not much) time by its naturalization strategy of making fingerprint appointments at some time after the initial papers are submitted. I still expect news sooner rather than later.

Speaking of the INS, here's an article from today's Washington Post that discusses issues relating to Brad's Contract Number 2, catching bad guys:

search.washingtonpost.com

I also saw an article in today's Chicago Tribune on the biometric market. It used the Salomon analysis to peg the present law enforcement market at $120 million a year and the overall market at $145 million a year. (Commercial market is quite small.) It then said that in 2001 the estimates for the total market ranged from $1 to $2 billion. FYI, Identix has about 60% of the total biometric market at the moment, according to Westergaard, I think. (But 60% of $145 million gives a higher number than we see in revenues.) Anyway, you can see how Brad comes up with his wild predictions when you start projecting out.
