*8:30 (Dow Jones) There you have it, problem solved! Saddam says nuclear, bioloogical, and chemical weapons have no place in his country, issuing a ban on all three. Geez, you'd think equity futures would be acting better. Hmmm.
Meanwhile, big day for the markets, which take in key data, including sentiment (seen down slightly), the UN report on Iraq, and face a long weekend at a time of heightened worry. Things look flat early, but rarely have these premarket indicators been more useless; Wall Street will have most of the day to digest the Blix report, and the reaction from the U.S. and others. Then there's Thursday's late bounce to consider. Program-driven, short-covering-fueled or not, the rally has to be given some respect. Basically, anything is possible today. S&Ps up a point, 10-year flat. (TG) |
