I agree with his overall sentiment, but I don't see the specific fundamentals upon which Bernanke is basing his pessimism.

He could have just as easily talked up the markets like Obama and Biden are desperately trying to do with their "Recovery Summer" campaign.

Maybe the lack of visibility itself is the point Bernanke was trying to make.


What I heard him saying is that the Fed's quick fixes are coming to an end. If things get worse, then the feds will reconsider but now its time for the private sector to start doing some heavy lifting.
