I think you can safely put this issue to rest Bernard. The release related to all acquisitions and handles them separately.

"After consulting with its auditors as well as the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Broadcom has followed the revised advice of its outside auditors in accounting for the purchase and development agreements and the related warrants."

If it's good enough for the SEC it ought to be good enough for you.
