Methinks that in the case of Iraq, democracy or democratization was used as a cheap excuse to invade and covet another country's black gold. The overly smart-assy US administration, by ignoring the well-meaning advice of the so-called "loony-left", now finds itself in a bind. Contrary to expectation, Iraq was not a cinch at all and, if anything, America seems to be experiencing retribution. Isn't it real odd that well-trained and well-armed Americans have not been able to subdue the Iraqi insurgents after nearly two years?
