What are you basing these numbers on?

Well, I am starting with a "Apple Daily" gossip rag report a few months ago that Apple planned to sell 300K Macbooks per quarter.

This report was discounted by everybody until the Q3 numbers which confirmed this, or close to this. At the same time Apple had some quality issues with the MBs, and there were some capacity problems that probably held back the 900K total number. We have one analyst looking for almost 800K Macbooks, I think that is correct.

So given close to 800K macbooks what about the ibooks, which still sell to schools (and this is school buying season) and the Macbook Pros which are selling much more with the Macbook halo? I am saying 250K-300K of these. This is just a guess.

Then the desktops. Just anecdotally I am noticing much much more activity of the iMacs in the top lists at retailers since the 24" announce and the price drops. Plus the school season which is big for desktops and the school imacs which were offered to schools this year and immediately pulled, I think due to demand. Finally the Mac Pro announce which had to serve some pent up demand I would imagine. I am looking for 600K desktop units total, which is 25% more than the desktop shipments last quarter, due to Amazon and other sites where the desktops are in the top 10.

So, nothing too scientific, just a guess really as most speculation is. But last quarter was flashing a mac blowout to me and that it was. This qtr seems the same. JMO.
