They are going to need financing. It's not uncommon in the industry to partner in large ventures. Hell look at the partners in Tengiz.

The tiered deal would be unusual, but then this industry has been known to do unusual deals. I mere speculating that they could entice a partner now my selling a % for specific price, but tie in escalating clause if more oil is discovered. For some that suggest that companies will pay 600 mil right now, as is, would be astounding. What if they don't find that much, that would be an incredible amount to pay for something that isn't definitively known. However, companies will buy reserves once proven at that kind of price.

So the concept could be tried. IF AIPN does find 1 billion recoverable, why not a escalation to say 1/2 or 3/5 of the normal rate for buying those reserves. That would be boost for AIPN and it's stockholders, IMO. Probably won't happen, but you never know.
