40 Days of Prayer : Day 20
Those who know Your name will put their trust in You. Psalm 9:10

Be encouraged that you are now at the halfway mark of your 40 day journey of prayer. It is important to not grow discouraged at this point but to rest in the assurance that Philippians 1:6 gives us, "Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it..." Little by little, God will do a completed work in your life as you rely on Him and not on your own feeble strength. He who has promised is faithful.

As we look to God in prayer, we begin to focus more clearly on who God is and what He does for us. Spend some time during the next 20 days on knowing His name; consider the many titles given to Jesus in the Old and New Testament and use them in prayer to awaken a new interest and devotion. Refer to the names of God in the back of the journal. I am praying Ephesians 1:16-19 for you. "I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight, so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the wonderful future He has promised to those He called...I pray that you will begin to understand the incredible greatness of His power for us who believe Him."

I would encourage you to ask others to join in praying with us for the remaining 20 days. Yesterday we prayed for God to enlarge our vision of Him. Today may we pray for our prayers to expand beyond ourselves to our communities, our nation and the world. May our united prayers be an outpouring of love to the lost of this world.
