Well this article looks interesting on how MS plans to battle Java.
A grumpy Microsoft goes in search of a caffeine fix

The third option is the one Microsoft apparently has decided to execute: throwing all its eggs back into the Windows basket. By "relaunching" the platform,Microsoft will try to convince customers that the Internet is one part of the enterprise, not vice versa, and that to be successful in the enterprise, companies need a full-blown operating platform that includes Windows 95 on the desktop and NT on the back end.

This is a risky proposition. It would be naive to state that Windows is in danger of being replaced as the operating system of choice for corporate desktops. But in the long term, is Windows the best option for corporations looking for the best way to use the Internet to improve their businesses? Many sites are beginning to think not.
