Coalbed Methane is a gas reservoir that produces methane. The reservoir is coalbed. Southern Colorado and New Mexico have simiar type reservoirs. Nothing special about the coal part other than its a type of gas reservoir. If the methane produced has no market, than GTL is a possible alternative. JM
