Before all you people embarres each other:

1. Java, a programming language, is supposed to solve world hunger tomorrow. As of now, you need a layout manager to draw a label on the screen. Of course, after all the complex geometric calculations, you are rewarded with a flashing window on all operating systems. BTW, 80% of the total desktop market is owned by Microsoft Corporation. And, 80% of the browser market by Netscape Communications. Both of them got there using without using JAVA.

2. C++, a programming language, was supposed to solve world hunger yesterday. As of now, you need to sit through a 10 minute compile and link session to draw a label on the screen. Of course, after all the complex geometric calculations, you are rewarded with a flashing window on Microsoft Windows, an operating system built by Microsoft Corporation, which currently owns 80% of the desktop market. And, 80% of the browser market is owned by Netscape Communications. Both of them got there using without using C++.

3. Captive X is a bravado pun, initiated by a few **smart** marketing (~sales) guys @ Netscape to outstrategize Microsoft's strategy of capturing the Intranet (alias LAN) market, 50% of which is currently owned by Novell. Novell got there without C++ or JAVA. Netscape is the David that is trying to bring down the Goliath (Microsoft Corporation). It began with noble (and still profitable) goals to build a good product that the masses could use, but currently is engaged in letting the poor and suffering masses know that the software they run on **their** personal computers might not work on **others** mini and mainframe computers because companies did not build their products using the JAVA programming language. Nescape currently owns 80% of the browser market. And it got there without C++ or JAVA.

4. The WWW is the coolest thing that happened since the PC, and, don't worry: you can still have fun even if you don't know C++, and, beleive me, you are not missing anything by not using a JAVA enabled browser.

Is Scott Adams in on this thread? Because, some smart dude from Novell (the other company), is also in on the game trying to trap the enemy with the classic Dilbertian technique: When feeling uneasy in front of a bunch of purpotedly non-technical people, always ask a complex technical question!! I assume that you need a MSCS degree to appreciate the fundamental evolutionary differences between bytecode, pcode, *code, etc.

Guys, give this **friendly** bashing a break and promote what each of your respective companies are doing to make our lives better. Not bash each other like you-know-who. Dirt never made any money. Until the microprocessor was invented.
